SportyAdvice : Sedentary lifestyles, a silent tsunami. How can we combat it?

Sedentary lifestyle

Did you know? A sedentary lifestyle doesn't just mean a lack of regular physical activity: it also means sitting or being inactive for more than two hours at a time. At the office, in front of the TV or glued to social media, these long, immobile hours take a heavy toll on our health.

François Carré summed it up well: “The chair kills silently and lies to us, because it doesn't rest.” According to a recent study, a sedentary lifestyle is responsible for almost 9% of deaths in France.

In 2024, the Great National Cause for the promotion of physical activity aims to shine a spotlight on this silent epidemic that today affects 95% of adults and 80% of young people aged 11 to 17.

Sporty Advice : To counter what François Carré calls “the societal tsunami of physical inactivity and sedentariness”, adopt some simple and effective new habits:
- Get up and move around every hour, even for just a few minutes.
- Hold your meetings standing up (it's proven to boost productivity too 😉 ).
- Turn your streaming session into an active moment with an exercise bike, or get out and enjoy the great outdoors!

What's important? Choose an activity suited to your abilities, progress at your own pace and limit prolonged periods of inactivity as much as possible.

Health benefits: Regular exercise improves blood circulation, reduces the risk of thrombosis and varicose veins, and gives a real boost to your general well-being. So, are you ready to get moving? 💪
